Y4 Teacher, after "River Tees - Source to Mouth" visit

Thankyou so much for today. It was a perfect complement to the work we have been doing and the children also learned more about the Tees. Thank you also for tailoring the day to include why people live by the river. The children loved it despite the weather. 

Y3 had a fabulous visit to ⁦@TeesmouthField to begin their Science topic “rocks” . So much investigation and opportunity to learn about this in our local coastal area

The children had a great day learning about the features of our local  river from its source to its mouth.  On the beach at North Gare, they made representations of the river using  natural materials.

Year 3 had a wonderful if windy trip to Teesmouth Field Centre today extending their knowledge of rocks and fossils.  They visited the beach to find different types of rocks and built rock volcanoes.  After lunch, they carried out experiments to test the rocks’ properties such as permeability, magnetism and hardness.  The class worked brilliantly together and were wonderful representatives of our school – something commented on by the staff at the Field Centre.

Half of Y3/4 visited Teesmouth Field Centre last week to learn about Living Things and their Habitats.  We had a great day exploring the sand dunes and beach, searching for a range of creatures and plants.  A big thank you to the team at Teesmouth who shared their incredible knowledge with the children.  The other half of Y3/4 are going this week.
