Itinerary - Beginning with a classroom based presentation on the plants and animals found on the beach, rock and sand dune habitats. Learn about seashore food chains and the adaptations and classification of the wildlife living at Teesmouth. This classroom session can be adapted for Early Years children to include drama, storytelling and sensory exploration.
- This is followed by a visit to the beach, for a hands-in, hands-on exploration of the habitats, reinforcing the learning around who lives in the different habitats and how they survive there.
- After lunch activities are age dependent and could include food chains games, habitat related craft activities or a habitats quiz.

- Identify and name common plants and animals, introducing carnivore, herbivore, omnivore and food chains.
- Identify that most living things live in habitats to which they are adapted.

- Recognise different ways to group and classify living things, using classification systems. Construct and interpret a variety of food chains.
- Identify and name a number of living things in their local environment.
- Recognise that environments can change, including human impact, and how this can pose dangers to living things.
