- Beginning with a classroom based presentation on beach, rocks and sand dune habitats, how they can be damaged by humans, including fire damage, litter, dogs and plastics.
- This is followed by a visit to the beach, for a hands-on, hands-in exploration. The children will identify how humans can have an impact (both good and bad) on the environment and will carry out a tideline litter survey and a short litter pick on the beach.
- During lunch, children sort their packed lunch waste into categories - reusable, recyclable, compostable or throw-away - to encourage the children to think about single-use plastic.
- After lunch, the children apply their knowledge to create Save our Seashore posters on the issues they encountered during their investigations on the beach.
